Disinformation -
Disinformation is false or inaccurate information deliberately created and strategically spread with the intention to deceive. Unlike misinformation—which is the accidental sharing of false facts—disinformation is a calculated tactic used in propaganda and psychological warfare to manipulate public opinion, obscure the truth, or cause harm.
Literacy -
Literacy is the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. Beyond basic alphabetical skills, modern literacy encompasses critical thinking, media interpretation, and the ability to navigate digital information. It is the foundation for lifelong learning and economic opportunity.
Comprehension -
Comprehension is the cognitive capacity to process, interpret, and fully understand concepts, information, or situations. It is most frequently associated with language, representing the ability to grasp the meaning of spoken or written text rather than simply decoding words on a page.
We are here due to the lack of literacy skills. The lack of comprehension makes for credulous people; perfect for disinformation campaigns.
We have a duty to ourselves and each other to be on a continued journey of self development. We must not rely of literary devices (hyperbole, metaphors, sound-bites) to dictate our outcomes.
